Liturgy

Le 7 juin 2025, les paroisses Notre-Dame-de-l’Assomption et Notre Dame d’Acadie ont organisé un pèlerinage jubilaire à la Co-cathedrale Saint Ambrose, Yarmouth. Environ 120 personnes se sont réjouies de l’événement enrichissant. Pendant 3 heures et demie, les paroissiens/paroissiennes ont participés à un enseignement sur l’espérance par Père Cyrille Assihou, le chapelet, l’adoration eucharistique avec réconciliation et une messe présidée par Père Hospice Akoffodji. L’avant midi s’est terminé avec un repas partagé ensemble. Voici quelques commentaires que les organisateurs ont reçus;

Sunday June 15 is Father’s Day. Let us all take time to honour our fathers this weekend through acts of prayer, kindness, reconciliation, and service. St. Joseph, patron of Canada, is a great intercessor and model for earthly fathers. May these words of Pope Francis encourage our fathers this weekend.

This summer the Archdiocese will host a visit of the reliquary of Saint André Bessette from July 25 to July 31, 2025.  Several of our parishes, including St. André Bessette Parish, will host a number of gatherings to offer the opportunity to pray with and venerate the relic.  For more details click here (pdf) to see the schedule of events.

In gratitude for Pope Francis’ ministry, a Jubilee Prayer Service will be celebrated at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica on Sunday, May 25 from 2:00-3:00pm.  Archbishop Dunn designated Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica, a pilgrimage site for the Jubilee Year. As such a Jubilee Indulgence will be granted to Pilgrims who take time to venerate the Jubilee Holy Cross which can be found to the right of the altar upon entering the Cathedral.

The Sisters of Charity—Halifax celebrate Pope Leo XIV's election. With deep pastoral ties to Chiclayo, Peru—where the Sisters ministered for over 50 years—the newly elected Pope holds special significance for the community.

Tomorrow, Wednesday May 7th, 133 Cardinals from across the world gather for a conclave (from the Latin cum clavis, meaning "with key") to elect a new Pope. This time, which mirrors the time spent by the disciples in the Upper Room awaiting the Holy Spirit, is marked by constant prayer and discernment for God’s will. However, it’s not just up to the Cardinals to pray. All the faithful are invited to invoke the Holy Spirit “so that we may elect a worthy pastor of the entire flock of Christ.” Therefore, please add the Cardinals, the new Pope, and the whole church to your prayers in the coming days. And, keep an eye out for white smoke.
