Stella Maris Parish will host a Memorial Mass for Sr. Joanna Madu, EHJ on April 8 at 7:00pm. The Mass will take place at St. Michael’s Church, 14 St. Michael’s Ave in Halifax.  Archbishop Dunn presiding.  A collection will be taken  at the Mass to help her religious community with the medical and funeral costs. 

Archbishop Dunn extends an invitation to all the faithful of the Archdiocese to join him for the annual Chrism Mass on Tuesday, April 15 at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica at 12:00 noon.

The Chrism Mass is held during Holy Week in every Catholic diocese. During this Mass, the priests, deacons and representatives of the entire diocesan community gather around  Archbishop Dunn, who blesses the Holy Oils for use in the coming year.

Please join us in praying for all of those who will be baptized as adults this Easter! On Sunday, March 9th we celebrated the Rite of Election at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica with all of the catechumens from across the diocese. This is the final step of preparation for those who are preparing to be baptized this Easter season.

As we enter into the season of Lent, a reminder that three parishes on peninsular Halifax will start to offer a daily 7:30am Mass. This is the result of feedback the diocese has received from people who would like to go to Mass prior to the beginning of their work day. Saint Mary’s Cathedral, Good Shepherd Parish, and Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi Parish will host these early morning Mass at 7:30am with the following schedule:
