Development
The Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth remains committed to nurturing faith, supporting our communities, and advancing our mission to share Christ’s love. Our 2025 Impact Report highlights some of the remarkable pastoral work made possible through your generous contributions to our 2025 Archdiocesan Annual Collection, BOLD IN FAITH.
The Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth is excited to announce the availability of scholarships for students actively engaged in their parish community. These scholarships aim to support students who demonstrate a strong commitment to Church renewal, leadership, and academic excellence. These scholarships are made possible by the Patrick Power Foundation, the Archbishop James Hayes Trust, the John T. Joy Trust, the A.M. Hynes Fund, and the Father Caissie Fund.
PREPARE YOUR HEART, the sacristy inside Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. The white “hat”, miter, symbolizes the Bishop’s office and responsibilities. The colour of the zucchetto, “cap”, denotes the office held by the wearer. Here in the photo we see the amaranth coloured zucchetto and the miter of the Archbishop laid out in preparation for mass.
VOCATION, an ordination mass celebrated at SAINT MARY’S CATHEDRAL BASILICA, c. 1940. Over 100 years old, the fresco panels seen located behind the altar feature paintings of Mary of the Ascension flanked by two angels on either side. In 1950, the paintings were covered with white wall paint, later to be painstakingly restored in 2019.
SPREADING THE WORD, ARCHBISHOP BRIAN J. DUNN is interviewed by CTV on the Papal conclave, 2025. On 13 April 2019, Pope Francis named him Archbishop Coadjutor of Halifax-Yarmouth where he has served as Archbishop since 2020.
