Praying for our Catechumens

Please join us in praying for all of those who will be baptized as adults this Easter! On Sunday, March 9th we celebrated the Rite of Election at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica with all of the catechumens from across the diocese. This is the final step of preparation for those who are preparing to be baptized this Easter season.

They gathered at the Cathedral and were greeted by Archbishop Dunn before having their names inscribed into their parishes Book of the Elect. It was a very moving celebration to see 47 catechumens, which is the most we have welcomed in decades! Over the next few Sundays you may see them in your parishes as they celebrate “The Scrutinies” on Sunday after the homily.

Please pray for all of the Elect as they embark on this final spiritual preparations for their baptisms this Lent.
