“The God who created the universe out of nothing can also intervene in this world and overcome every form of evil. Injustice is not invincible.” (Laudato Si’, 74)
Pope Francis’ encyclical, Laudato Si’, speaks about the need for urgent action to address the climate crisis. During this Easter season, all Christians are encouraged to pray and act together for the Love of Creation. During Earth Week (April 16 – 23), consider engaging in a climate justice activity, whether engaging in prayer with others in your community, attending an online webinar, or participating in a climate action walk.
See laudatosimovement.org for climate action events and resources within the Catholic Community.
See fortheloveofcreation.ca/earth-week to find out about Interfaith climate action activities online or in your community.
For example, in Halifax the People's Parade for Life on Earth will take place on Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd (Rain Date: Sunday, April 23rd, 2023). Everyone will gather at 1 pm at the wave on the Halifax waterfront. The parade will begin at 2 pm and end at the Peace & Friendship Park with a community gathering.
