The Religious Studies department at Saint Mary's will host a public lecture titled: Mystery, Mystagogy, and the Modern University: An Annunciation Lecture, at 7:00pm on March 25, 2026. The talk will be given by Dr. Luke Togni, Research Fellow of the Franciscan Institute at Saint Bonaventure University, an adjunct professor at Dalhousie University’s Department of Classics, and a part-time instructor at Saint Mary’s University Department for the Study of Religion.
From the promotional poster:
Must, as Tertullian quipped, Jerusalem have nothing to do with Athens? Inspired by the meeting of worlds in the Annunciation, this Catholic Studies lecture proposes that if the Church enriches its mystagogy through the modern university, its pursuit of the unifying mystery can propel the university deepen in its own relentless pursuit of truth.
The lecture will be held in Sobey Inspiration Hub 324. The talk will be followed by a Q&A and a reception. All are welcome to attend. The building can be accessed either through the Sobey School of Business or right off of Gorsebrook Ave.
