The Feast of Saint Anne is an important day for our Mi’kmaq communities. In the lead up to this day many communities will being to pray a novena to Saint Anne, the grandmother of Jesus. In light of this, Archbishop Dunn recorded a prayer service and reflection on Saint Anne to share with our indigenous brothers and sisters.
In years past, many Mi’kmaq would gather for the Mission at Chapel Island, Potlotek, to renew their faith and reinforce family ties. Archbishop Dunn has had the opportunity in the past to celebrate this wonderful day at Chapel Island with them.
Unfortunately, given our current pandemic circumstances this annual gathering will not happen this year. Archbishop Dunn hopes this simple prayer service will help the communities digitally gather and pray to honour Saint Anne and her great example of faith.
