On December 31, 2016 the former ‘old’ pension plan for Lay Employees & Deacons in the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth was frozen and replaced with a new pension plan for Lay Employees & Deacons on January 1, 2017. The Archdiocese is now in the process of winding up (closing) the former ‘old’ pension plan.
To assist with this windup process, the Archdiocesan HR Office will held an information session by Zoom on October 10, 2024 at 10:00 am for members who were part of the older plan.

Reporting to the Pastor, the Communications Coordinator will provide hands on communications by being the lead in providing and maintaining our communications updates and strategy, including social media accounts, electronic signage, managing the parish calendar, mass email updates to parishioners etc.

- Demonstrate proficiency with technology including G-suite products; Adobe, video conferencing (Zoom); website updates and bulk email tools such as Mailchimp.
- Has strong interpersonal skills, with above average written and oral communication skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
- Has above average initiative and demonstrated flexibility as well the ability to work with minimal supervision

Job Summary:
We are seeking a Faith Formation Coordinator who will play an essential role in this mission. The Faith Formation Coordinator will assist the parish to provide and incorporate catechetical, social, liturgical, and service components to all parish ministries. These parish programs and ministries are to be grounded in Church teaching and to help all people live out the mission of the Church given to us by Jesus Christ.
The position requires 18 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends.
Main responsibilities and duties:
- Supports faith formation initiatives, including children and youth ministries, adult faith formation programs, other ministries, and small groups as assigned
- Develops and executes processes for catechesis that prepares families for sacraments of initiation (i.e. baptism, first communication, confirmation, and RCIA)
- Maintains accurate, confidential records of participants, sacramental preparation, and program evaluations.
- Builds relationships and helps guide inquirers thorough their questions and concerns with pastoral sensitivity and tact.
- Plays an active role in the planning and delivery of parish events including, but not limited to, the parish mission, leadership summits, etc.
- Creates and nurtures an active leadership pipeline, mentor volunteers, and always works to develop volunteer, parishioner led ministries
- Ensures all faith formation volunteers meet the Responsible Ministry requirements
- Sundry duties as assigned to parish life
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, or a related field would be asset
- A faithful Catholic, active in the church’s liturgical and sacramental life, with an active spiritual life, personal prayer life, and relationship with Jesus Christ
- Demonstrated successful experience working with children and youth and evident passion for growing disciples of Jesus Christ
- Team player with a commitment to the mission and passion for parish renewal.
- Commitment to ongoing professional and personal development and learning
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – Heart for hospitality
- Volunteer or working experience in a parish context
- Has a heart for servant leadership – we lead by serving others
- Experience delivering catechesis, religious programming, sacramental prep, etc.
- Demonstrates above average written and oral communication skills with the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
