Liturgy

To celebrate the Feast of the Archangels and in deep gratitude to the guidance of angels in our daily lives, Archbishop Dunn will join with Fr. Patrick Salah to celebrate Mass on Friday, September 29, at 12:10pm at St. Agnes Church on Mumford Road. We extend a warm welcome to all.

As students of all ages return to class let us keep them, as well teachers, school administrators and staff in our prayers as they make the transition from care free summer days to school day schedules. May the academic year be filled with many graces, gifts, and blessings!

Our Lady of Guadalupe parish is offering a Satuday anticipated Mass in Spanish (with Gospel reading and homily in English). The next one will be this coming Saturday, August 26 at 4 PM. St Peter church location on 10 Maple St. Dartmouth, NS.

Happy Feast Day!! / Bonne Fete Nationale!!

Today, August 15 is the Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary - and our diocesan feast day! At 12:00 noon today Archbishop Dunn celebrated Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica to recognize and celebrate our diocesan feast day.  After the Mass all attendees we invited to gather for a BBQ in the courtyard between the Cathedral and the glebe house.

We also celebrate in a special way with our Acadian communities in the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.  August 15 is National Acadian Day. Bonne fête nationale à tous les acadiens et les acadiennes de notre archidiocèse!

Saint Mary is the patron saint of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth. As we recall hernassumption body and soul into heaven, may we seek her intercession to strengthen and guide the faithful of our local Church to boldly witness Christ in all we do.

Celebrate Our Diocesan Feast Day

August 15 is the Feast of the Assumption – and our diocesan feast day! As we celebrate the assumption of Mary into heaven body and soul, we seek her intercession and guidance for the faithful of our whole Archdiocese.

To celebrate our feast day, Archbishop Dunn will celebrate Mass at 12 noon on August 15 at Saint Mary’s Cathedral.  The Mass will be followed by a BBQ in the courtyard between the church and the glebe.  All are welcome!

As well during the Mass we will take up a special collection for the Daily Bread Outreach program that runs out of the Cathedral hall during the week serving food to almost 700 people each week.  And the need is only growing!  Many people across our Archdiocese have experienced significant hardship over the past few years, from the impact of the pandemic to the housing crisis to natural disasters. These experiences highlight the fragility of human life and that we must rely on one another in times of hardship.  In honour of our feast day we invite you to consider helping those in need by donating to The Daily Bread Outreach, Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.
