Liturgy

Join Archbishop Dunn on September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as he celebrates the 12:15 Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. Following the Mass he will lead a reflection on the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary during a Holy Hour.  There is limited attendance for this Mass as we keep in mind our current gathering limits and COVID – 19 protocols.  The liturgy will also broadcast by livestream.  To view, click on the “Online Masses from the Cathedral” link on the diocesan website: www.halifaxyarmouth.org

Last week, Archbishop Dunn released a Letter to the Faithful about the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.  In the letter it is noted that the parishes and associated ministries of the Archdiocese will not be observing September 30 as a holiday, i.e. a “day off”.  Instead, all clergy, religious, and lay employees are asked to create and/or take part in opportunities for prayer, fasting, and repentance.  To read the full letter please click here.

On 12 December, the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Church in Canada celebrates the National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples. This project, with the approval of the Bishops of Canada, has been coordinated since 2002 by the Canadian Catholic Indigenous Council (formerly the Canadian Catholic Aboriginal Council).

On the Feast of our Lady of Guadalupe, December 12, we recognize a National Day of Prayer in Solidarity with Indigenous Peoples. Canadian Catholics are invited to take time that day to prayer in unity with our our indigenous communities and the challenges they face.
