As we prepare to welcome Pope Francis to Canada, we invite Catholics from across the country to participate in this historic journey in a number of different ways. In addition to television coverage of papal events, visit www.papalvisit.ca or www.visitepapale.ca to access more than 10 livestream links of coverage featuring interpretation in many languages (including Indigenous languages), as well as livestream links from Vatican TV including commentary.

Yesterday we welcomed to Halifax Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič, the Apostolic Nuncio to Canada.  This afternoon he will bestow on Archbishop Dunn a pallium from Pope Francis. The pallium is a scarf, or stole-like vestment that is worn over the chasuble when the archbishop celebrates Mass. This is a symbol of an archbishop’s unity with the Pope and his authority, and his responsibility to care for the flock the Pope entrusted to him.

Next week, Archbishop Dunn will welcome the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Ivan Jurkovič to the Archdiocese. On May 31, the Nuncio will bestow on Archbishop Dunn the Pallium from the Holy Father at 3:00pm at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica.  All are welcome to join in this special diocesan celebration!  A reception will follow for people to congratulate Archbishop Dunn and greet Archbishop Jurkovič.

We are excited to welcome Pope Francis to Canada this summer as he makes a pilgrimage of healing, reconciliation, and hope.
