National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join Archbishop Dunn on September 30, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation as he celebrates the 12:15 Mass at Saint Mary’s Cathedral Basilica. Following the Mass he will lead a reflection on the sorrowful mysteries of the rosary during a Holy Hour.  There is limited attendance for this Mass as we keep in mind our current gathering limits and COVID – 19 protocols.  The liturgy will also broadcast by livestream.  To view, click on the “Online Masses from the Cathedral” link on the diocesan website: www.halifaxyarmouth.org

Please note: all clergy, religious, and lay employees of the Archdiocese will not be observing September 30 as a holiday, i.e. a “day off”.  Instead, Archbishop Dunn has asked them to create and/or take part in opportunities for prayer, fasting, and repentance as we remember and reflect on this dark time in the history of our Church and our country.

Please note there will be no Treaty Day Mass this year on October 1.  Treaty Day organizers have scaled down HRM Treaty Day events once again this year due to the ongoing global pandemic. However, the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre will be hosting a few events on the waterfront from September 30 to October 2.  For details see their website: mymnfc.com
