Ecumenical Formation: How do Church and Academy Walk Together

The Anglican-Roman Catholic Dialogue of Canada (ARC) Presents a Panel conversation: “Ecumenical Formation: How do Church and Academy Walk Together?” on October 4 from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the St. Columba Chapel on the campus of the Atlantic School of Theology.

ARC Canada, has been in existence for over 50 years. It has a mandate of seeking to increase connection and understanding between Anglican and Roman Catholic Christians, and maximizing cooperation by our two churches in witness, service, and ministry as fully as possible. The members of ARC Canada include 14 people in total from different locations and contexts across the country including our own Archbishop Dunn.  ARC will hold their annual meeting in Halifax from October 2 - 5. They are eager to connect with people in the local churches, and especially those interested in theology and ecumenism.

The focus of the Oct 4 gathering at AST will be to hear from both members of the ARC dialogue and faculty of AST about how the Church on the one hand, and institutions of academic theological study and research on the other hand, can be working together in forming ministers and leaders who are open to ecumenical partnership and interdenominational sharing. Given the context of AST as an ecumenical consortium of theological schools, I expect it will be of particular interest to students, faculty, and supporters alike.
