Mission Collection Mix-up

It has come to our attention that the wrong material was mailed out regarding our diocesan Mission Collection campaign which started this past weekend.  We apologize for the confusion this may have caused.

The Mission Collection happens once a year and is a time that Archbishop Dunn asks for your financial help to support the missionary efforts of the people and parishes of the Archdiocese of Halifax-Yarmouth.  Your contributions to this important work is greatly appreciated.

Below is the letter that you should have received:

Dear ,

Over the past few years, many across the diocese have experienced hardships from the pandemic, to fires and floods, which have left a profound mark on each of us. As a result, an increasing number of people are experiencing food insecurity, poverty, and homelessness.

Because of your continued help and support, our Emergency Shelters Program has been able to provide shelter, access to personal care items and necessities, and help to apply for benefits.  As well this program provides support while helping shelter occupants to find long-term housing and employment. Furthermore, as a result of the continued and growing need of those experiencing homelessness, the Emergency Shelters Program added five shelters this fall. I am also pleased to say that our Emergency Shelters Program received a grant to help shelter occupants receive counselling and mental health services. Helping those in need is essential in our mission as Christians. Through these actions, we follow the Lord’s command to look after the homeless and we help facilitate opportunities for others to encounter, experience, and come to know Christ.

As we continue to serve those in need, especially through this Emergency Shelters Program, I ask that you prayerfully consider donating to our Mission Collection. I am very grateful for any donations you can give and thank you for your continued support.
