Commemoration of the Reformation

Zion Lutheran Church
Lunenburg, NS
November 19, 2017

Dear Friends,
Our gathering today, in Zion Lutheran Church, Canada’s oldest Lutheran parish, established in 1772, is an amazing grace, a unique experience of the ecumenical journey of the past 50 years and an expression of great hope in the on-going commitment of Catholics and Lutherans to move from conflict to communion.

Homily for the Closing of the Year of Mercy

Closing the Jubilee of Mercy
St. Mary’s Cathedral Basilica
November 13th, 2016

“By your endurance you will gain your souls.”
(Luke 21.19)

Dear Friends,

These closing words from today’s gospel express in a short phrase, the lesson I suggest should be retained on this 33rd Sunday of ordinary time. It is also an appropriate point to make on the day we close the Jubilee Year of Mercy’s Holy Doors in our Archdiocese.
